Last week, the art gallery ‘Auguste’ held an exhibition with a difference. It displayed the works of two professional skaters, Nils Inne and Seb Daurel, who produce works of art that combine their love of skateboarding with contemporary art.

Utilising recycled skateboards; Seb Daurel shapes boards in the cellar of his Bordeaux skate shop. He then collaborates closely with his friend Nils discussing the themes and forms of the boards, and Nils then goes on to paint them.

Recurrent themes Nil’s artwork are hands and feet, he simply explains, ‘ I use my hands for painting and my feet for skating.’ Bright, bold colours and thick black lines distinguish Nils’ work that he uses to decorates dolls, tee shirts and canvasses.
Later on in the evening, professional skater fresh from winning the street contest at the Tony Hawk show, Bastien Salabanzi, played an impromptu music set outside the gallery. With Sebastian on the jambé and another guy with an acoustic guitar, Bastian played the blues on his custom made electric guitar.
