The « Pen to Paper » exhibition has dropped it’s metaphorical anchor at the Galerie LJ, in Paris after exhibiting in London and Berlin.
The tour promotes the very book that assembles works from various artists, who « reject the computer and channel their creativity through spontaneous freehand drawing to create untamed, edgy and exceptional beings ». The displayed pictures are drawn in felt tip, pencil and even nail varnish, each one reflecting the artist’s distorted interpretations of cartoon characters and familiar consumer mascots.
A digital rebellion, raw drawing techniques allow the artists to channel their creativity for a DIY art form described as « fractured figuration » or « new psychedelic folk ». Lars Denicke, the exhibition organiser chose the artists who represent for him, “a new generation, of outspoken individuality and inspiration.”
